After the terrorist detonation of the Terragenesis Bomb by the alien race, the Kree Dominant, the government had a new crisis on its’ hands. How to deal with an influx of the metahuman population. To this end, they created the D.E.O. or Department of Extranormal Operations and its SHIELD, SWORD, and SPEAR divisions. SPEAR would explore and scout new races determining their threat level. Sword would be the main defense or offense in the event of another extraterrestrial affair. SHIELD would be the last line of defense.
Appointed to lead the SHIELD branch was the successful Agent, Henry Coulson. Why was he so successful at tracking and hunting alien threats? Easy. He is one. A visitor from the planet Mars, Hank serves as an ambassador from his world. Coulson was tasked with forming a team under the Defenders Initiative. Coulson was to form and train a team of metahumans created by the event. To this end, he was joined by Agent Caitlyn  Simmons, a biologist extraordinaire, Agent Ramone “Cisco” Fitzpatrick, an engineer of wonders, Agent Felicity Skye, a modern aged computer genius, and Agent Mari May (the first Agent to transform during the Terragenesis) and MacKenzie ‘Mack’ Davners his right hand man.
In addition to Codename: Chimera aka Agent Mari May who has the ability to incorporate the actual attributes of the animals of the fighting styles she uses (Dragon, Monkey, Tiger, etc….) the team currently consists of:
Codename: Wraith aka Robbie Rusch. Has the ability to merge with people who need to be avenged and become the ghostly entity known as the Wraith.
Codename: Hawk aka Bobbi Lance. Has the ability to recovery from nearly any wound at an accelerated rate. Also a trained assassin of the Order of the Dragon.
Codename: Calamity aka Rory Zabo. Has the ability to cause localized disasters, almost like a disaster field that can be manipulated upon or directed at a target.
Codename: Captain Atom aka Dr Michael Palmer. Dr Palmer was a ground zero during the alien terrorist attack. He lost his right arm and left leg in the explosion. Michael’s biology turned him into a human fusion reactor, producing exponential amounts of energy. Dr Palmer was able to use the left behind alien technology to craft cybernetic replacements for himself. He also created armor that when attached to his cybernetic components could also be powered by his internal biology.
Together, they will reign in the disaster caused by the Terragenesis Bomb, and also stop new forming threats before they happen. They are……THE DEFENDERS OF TOMORROW!
